Reducing our consumption of oil

If there’s one thing I’m not capable of anymore it’s denial.  I can’t stand idly by and watch our entire future be thrown away by our would-be corporate overlords and an apathetic government who would rather do nothing of substance.  This is a potential turning point for the better, that is if we can wake up and start reducing our demand for oil.

A few thoughts on Independence Day

July 2nd, 2010

As we approach Independence Day it’s good to reflect on why we have such a holiday. We are supposed to be free from the British oppressors that unfairly taxed and ruled over us with an iron fist, yet today a British corporation (that’s largely owned by the British Government and the Queen of England) is using all its might to suppress news, clean-up efforts and animal rescue in the Gulf of Mexico. Once the spill spreads and eventually reaches in to the Atlantic it could cause much more widespread damage and misery.

Coal power: The dirtiest form of energy

Coal power is the source of over 50% of all electricity in the United States. It is an abundant resource and it has been used since the 18th century. Back then not many people knew that it was so devastating to the environment.
